Local-first design
COOL is designed to work without accounts, cloud synchronization, backend servers or remote databases controlled by Local First Apps. Book records are stored locally on the user's device using a local SQLite database.
Data stored on the device
The app may store locally the information entered or saved by the user, including book titles, authors, ISBN codes, publishers, years, categories, language, notes, shelf or room positions, descriptions, cover images, library name and device name.
The device name entered in Settings is used to identify the source device in exported files. It is not sent to Local First Apps.
Google Books lookup
When the user searches for a book by ISBN or title, COOL sends that ISBN or title to the Google Books API over HTTPS in order to retrieve bibliographic information. This lookup is optional: users can enter book data manually without using Google Books.
Google may process those requests according to its own terms and privacy policies. Local First Apps does not receive a copy of the user's local library database from Google Books.
Camera and cover images
COOL uses the camera only when the user chooses to scan an ISBN barcode or take a cover photo. Cover photos taken by the user are stored locally on the device and are not uploaded to Local First Apps.
Exports and sharing
COOL can create CSV, Excel and Word exports locally on the device. These files are shared only when the user chooses to share or save them using the operating system sharing options.
Analytics, advertising and tracking
COOL does not include advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs, social tracking SDKs or third-party crash reporting services.
Data deletion
Users can delete individual books in the app. Users can remove all local app data by uninstalling COOL or clearing app data from the operating system settings.
Children
COOL is not specifically directed to children.
Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be updated when the app changes or when legal or store requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.
